She didn't want to let any doors shut between them. Because if they did, she knew she wouldn't be seeing Peeta till the cornucopia. And that couldn't happen.
So here they were, standing awkwardly in the bathroom of her quarters in the Tribute suite. Because they both needed to wash the day away, but neither of them wanted to approach the elephant in the room of showering...without doors closing between them. At least Katniss didn't, and she assumed Peeta didn't.
Hopefully the Capitol wouldn't lock one of them in the shower all night. But really, she wouldn't be surprised right now.

This wasn't real, it couldn't be.
I kept reading Peeta as Pasta.
She had known, of course, that they had done things to him. But she had forced it from her mind, naively hoping when he got home it'd all be fine.
This was far from fine.
"...Peeta? What's wrong?"
She wanted to move forward, but he reminded her right now of an injured animal. And she had no weapon.
